One World Film Clubs @ One World Romania

19 March - 20 March / 11:00 / Cinema Union

One World Film Clubs @ One World Romania

One World Film Clubs try to involve young people in the debate of human rights. The project was initiated by Oricum Association and aims to fill in the gap of audio-visual education in schools, and especially that of a structured debate on human rights and global issues such as: migration, discrimination, poverty, racism, social exclusion, climate change or armed conflicts.

Teenagers are helped to set up a film club in their high school and inspired to organize monthly screenings of documentaries. Each screening is followed by a debate with guests, which inspires the young people to reflect critically on what was presented in the film. Right now there are film clubs in 24 high schools from 17 cities around the country, but there are new clubs opening every month.

Empowering youngsters is very important objective of the One World Film Clubs. By managing the film clubs in their schools, as well as through workshops and special events, the teenagers get to learn more about human rights, as well as developing their leadership and management skills, and participating in documentary-making workshops.

One of these special events is One World Romania. During the festival members from all the Film clubs in the country will gather in Bucharest for several events organized just for high school students.
19th of March – the projection of the film Pit no.8 in the presence of the director
20th of March – a seminar about filming documentaries in Romania
