Between 1932 and 1933, 17 per minute, 1000 per hour and almost 25,000 people per day died in Ukraine. Part of the Soviet Union, Ukraine has faced the horrors of hunger as a consequence of the communist authorities ruling that the peasants that were not loyal to the party were to be punished.

Many of the survivors now talk for the first time about the Holodomor and the incredible experience that they went through, being left to die out of hunger, without any food supply or possibility of purchase. Although these things were brought to public attention at the right time by British journalist Gareth Jones, his coverages of Holomodor were completely ignored by Western countries.
